Our loving, personable God has made each of us on purpose, for a purpose. So many struggle to find that purpose. They see the “renown” people with great influence and think, ” I must do the outstanding things that everyone sees” or ” I want to be the outstanding person that everyone knows”. But I think that, often times, God just wants us to be ourselves and do what we can do.
If you can just be you, then I believe your purpose is within your reach and probably always has been. God wants to use you. He is not holding out. Are you willing, if He chooses, to do the seemingly unimportant things or be relatively unknown? On January 10, 2014, God impressed this message upon my heart and mind and I want to share it with you. It is time. Undertake and be about your purpose. Below are His words to me and my prayer following.
The waves are raging. The sea is being tossed to and fro. Men’s hearts are failing them for fear. The end of this generation is near.
Focus on the things that make a difference. Focus on the things that change lives.
Focus on the things that make a difference. Focus on the things that change lives.
Focus on the things that make a difference. Focus on the things that change lives.
Listen to Me. Hear Me. Obey Me. Follow Me. Trust Me.
Focus on the things that make a difference. Focus on the things that change lives.
I am the Lord, your God.
“Lord, give me the desire to listen. Give me the hearing ear. Give me the heart to obey. Give me the desire to follow You. Give me the trust in You that I need. I need to empty myself so You can come in and move freely and powerfully through me and within me!”
Make a difference. Change a life. You are the only YOU God created – on purpose. You can and must make your unique difference – moment by moment, day by day, week by week, year by year, one effort at a time. God bless you.
A prayer of humility spoken from a genuine heart.
If everyone who claimed Jesus as Lord and Savior would pray this prayer with conviction – just imagine what the Holy Spirit would do in this world. When we remain silent there is no one to oppose the enemy. God does indeed have a purpose for each one of us. Our faith, talents, experiences and testimonies are the tools He has given us to fulfill our own purpose. When Christians will seek then follow, trust then obey, sit quietly and listen then go and share the Good News we are fulfilling his purpose and helping others to do the same.
Beautiful prayer and great article.
Thank you, Melinda. Our God is so exciting and has the perfect guidance every time. His kids just need keen listening ears and surrendered hearts. I find it easier said than done most times.
Yes, this really is a very important article. Every Christian adult and even teenagers should look beyond an occupation and earning a living to what God’s purpose is for them, and be still and listen to God’s leading. I call it maximizing one’s life in the lives of others, and allowing God to use our life in ways that he knows that can put to the best use.
Amen!
“Focus on the things that make a difference. Focus on the things that change lives.” This idea is so difficult to complete in our current high demand and instant response world because we get use to having an instant answer and God is not always instant. Some times, most times we have to wait and waiting means that we might not see the outcome of the changed life, but we have to walk by faith knowing that God has called us for a specific purpose. How we answer, or don’t answer is the underlying problem. There is so much talent out there that God has blessed people with and they are wasting their gift away because they lack guidance or motivation. I pray that those lives may see that their gift is from their Creator God who has many purposes to use the gift, they just have to open it to reveal its potential. Thank you for sharing your message.
This message is not being taught in most churches. For the most part Christians are not being encouraged to identify and use their unique God-given gifts, passion, and vision. I agree, there are many people including Christians, that are wasting their lives. This is something that I would like to see the younger generation latch on to, but the older adults can also. It is never too late to begin fulfilling one’s purpose. I began fulfilling my purpose in my fifties.
JLC, God impressed upon me some time ago that you are never too old to begin to do great things for God!
I agree with Sonya…it is never too late to start living out ones purpose. That must be why God is eternal! : )
I agree, Renee, in Jesus’ name.
I believe that this weighs heavy upon many hearts. What is my purpose? What does God want me to do? How can I make a differnce? This totally speaks to that and gives guidance and direction in the asking and in the taking action.
“Listen to Me. Hear Me. Obey Me. Follow Me. Trust Me.
Focus on the things that make a difference. Focus on the things that change lives.
I am the Lord, your God.”
Excellent reminder…
He makes it so clear and so simple. We humans make it so hard! God bless you…and thank you.
I am sooo thankful He lead me to share what He gave to me. I am trusting it is making the difference and changing the lives according to His plan. I am humbled.
