Grace, Grace, Grace

Hey, have I got a song for you! It’s called “Grace Got You” by MercyMe and it’s a song that will really lift you up and put you in a good mood. But first, I want to tell you a little bit about what I see as the sentiment behind the song.

Have you ever met a person who is just negative all the time? No matter what is going on, no matter the situation, that person is negative. He or she looks for the worst in every situation and never gives anyone the benefit of the doubt. It can be hard to know a person like that.

Then, on the flip side there are some people who seem to exude positivity everywhere they go. They tend to look on the bright side even when situations look bleak. They look for the best in every person and they have kind words for those who cross their paths. What a joy!

But how can this be? What’s the difference? What do they know that some others don’t. Well, some would say that those types of people just have a positive outlook on life. But I’d dare say that, for those who know the Lord, maybe we can take it a step further.

Perhaps, they know an important fact–that the grace of God has them covered.

What is grace? Well, I’ve heard it said that GRACE is

God’s
Riches
At
Christ’s
Expense

But what does that really mean? A commonly used definition is that grace is the free and unmerited favor of God. Let’s take a look at a few Bible verses to help us understand more about grace.

GRACE IS SUFFICIENT, ALL WE NEED
But [the LORD] said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” II Corinthians 12:9

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8

GRACE IS A FREE GIFT AVAILABLE TO EACH OF US
But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. Ephesians 4:7

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

GRACE IS A COVERING
For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:14

GRACE LEADS TO SALVATION AND REDEMPTION
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. Titus 2:11

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. Ephesians 1:7

GRACE IS A HELP IN TIME OF NEED
Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need

Wow! That is good news! Knowing that grace is all those things should be enough to pick us up and lift our spirits.

So back to our song. The song “Grace Got You” emphasizes that each of us can and should be that person that exudes positivity. The song encourages you to sing, glide, dance, laugh, smile. Why? Because of grace, grace, grace–God’s amazing grace! It’s an upbeat tune with simple but impactful vocals that will make you want to sing along, which is exactly what you can do as you listen to and watch the lyric video below.

Of course, in reality it is difficult to be positive all the time. We all have situations that test us, and people who come into our lives that don’t have our best interests at heart. And it’s important that when those things and people arise, that we ask God to give us the grace to deal with them.

But whenever you need a pick me up, a break from negative people and negative situations, listen to this song and walk a little taller and with a little pep in your step knowing that “Grace Got You.”
