“Road to Emmaus” Movie Review
The Scriptures Luke 24:13-49 comes alive on film. It is a beautiful portrayal of the two travelers walking on the Road to a village called Emmaus which was seven miles from Jerusalem. (Luke 24:15-16—So it was, while they conversed and reasoned that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know him.)
This film came out in the Fall of 2009. Bruce Marchiano plays Jesus (the same actor who played Jesus in “The Encounter”). This beautiful movie is not rated and if children are watching it with you, do be cautioned that at the beginning it shows a few scenes of the crucifixion, if you don’t want them to see that part; but they will love the rest of the film. It is only 30 minutes long, but it is the best 30 minutes spent with the Scriptures in the Bible. I wished it was longer. I loved the actor’s gentleness and love that he expressed, just like our real Lord. It is just like spending this time with Him. I wish I really had been there. This was almost like being there, that is how lifelike it seemed.
It is a 5 star out of 5 kind of movie! It is the perfect movie to watch at Easter time. It takes place on the third day after He rose again! “He has risen!”
John 1:29(NKJV)—Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
John 14:6(NKJV)—“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
1 John 4:10(NKJV)—In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
