This is a season where many people focus on peace and good will to all men, but the reality is that we’re still on a spiritual battlefield dealing with a very dangerous enemy. All one needs to do is click on the news to hear about horrible atrocities going on around us. It is my sincere belief that these things develop from the spiritual realm and end up manifesting in the physical world. So, in order to combat this problem we must know our enemy. In response, I would like to go over five important facts to know about Satan.
Satan is Your “Adversary”
Make no mistake about it, Satan is not your friend. In fact, the name Satan means “the adversary.” This is why he carries this name and this is who he is. He might pretend to be your friend, but he does not have any good intent in mind when it comes to you or your future.
Satan Knows the Bible
Satan is no dummy when it comes to what scripture “says.” He has knowledge, but what he doesn’t have is spiritual wisdom (John 1:5). Remember when Satan tempted Jesus three times in the wilderness? He did this with scripture. He knew it, but Jesus overcame it because He had the wisdom and knew the proper application of it (Matt 4:1-11). The best defense is to study and to include other believers in this as well.
Satan’s Kingdom is Organized
We know there are legions of demons working together (Mark 5:9) and we know there are principalities, powers, and rulers working in high places (Eph 6:12). This suggests a powerful, demonic army. We should be very cautious and very aware of this. Satan does not attack lightly, but with full intent of what he is doing.
Satan Always Counterfeits
Whenever God does something, Satan is always going to try to counterfeit. He can’t be God, so he tries to pretend that’s who he is. This also puts people in a snag because Satan’s ways appeals to the flesh when God’s way is fulfilling to the spirit. It’s a battle that has waged on for millennia and will continue to until Satan is finally cast into the lake of fire.
Satan’s Time is Short
Satan knows his time is short and soon he will be cast into the abyss. He does not like this, so he is always on the move. In fact, the Holy Bible tells us he moves around like a roaring lion looking for whom he may devour (1 Pet 5:8). Beware of your adversary or he will seek to devour you.
Conclusion
Friends, be on guard. Satan may be on the losing side, but he will take you down with him if he can. Remember, resist the devil and he will flee, and draw near to God so that He might draw near to you (James 4:7). Thank you for reading and God bless.
