Some people say, “I believe in God, but I don’t need to go to church.”
Have you heard this phrase before? I’m sure we’ve all heard these words or similar to it.
Not only does the Word talk about it in Hebrews 10:25, “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more as ye see the day approaching.”
This scripture is stating, we need each other! Especially since we are living in the last days. Jesus wants us to come together, in God’s house, not to just worship Him, but to refine (Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpeneth iron; So a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”) one another in prayer, encouragement, and in whatever that person (brother or sister, etc.) may need or not need. This can only happen, when we are led by the Holy Spirit.
When we begin to exhort and refine one another, just like diamonds are created, we are able to shine with even more resilience than ever before! This happens when we are being sharpened by one another, encouraged by each other’s testimonies, etc. As believers, we will realize each person’s part in bringing about resilience and unity in the church — Wow!
In Matthew 5:16, Jesus taught, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” For our lights to shine, we need to sharpen one another, along with love, forgiveness, acceptance, etc. The brighter that light shines in the Body of Christ as a whole, Christ’s power will resonate in us and through us! He wants us to be One with Him! John 17:22 “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one”
He is coming back sooner than we think!
Will He be coming back for a church that has succeeded in His expectations for us? Will we be ready? If you believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and after three days He rose from the dead, then you already have the promise of being in heaven one day.
Let’s get past our past and hold on to Jesus as He shows us what lies ahead — one day at a time!
