Matthew 10:28 -And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
I’d overheard a conversation while waiting in the eye doctors office, a woman was making mention of “gaining access to a soul.” I immediately wondered what the heck that meant since no one has access to any one’s soul, except the One who created all souls.
Individuals have no control over a soul in terms of influencing it or granting them eternal life or salvation. That is what I perceive a soul to be. It belongs to God. Period the end.
Now, can people influence others by their actions and words and way of living? That would be a definite yes! But then again, there are some who are not influenced and not easily swayed by others at all.
For example, we can plant seeds and offer solace in matters that are affecting an individual’s life. We can offer the Word as a healing balm and introduce Jesus to them. Again, they’d have to be open to it. But we don’t gain access to their soul. Only God can. He is the only One that gains access to their soul. He is the One that owns their soul. He is the One that will judge their soul. And He is the One that can destroy their soul and condemn it into the lake of fire. Only God owns our souls. We belong to Him exclusively.
Ezekiel 18:4 -Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
It’s important to keep in mind that our souls are what follows us into the eternity, and that all souls belongs to God. He alone has access to it, and He alone will determine if your soul lives for eternity or ultimately perish! Will your soul survive? That’s up to God…And the way you live your life at this very moment in time, will determine the duration of your soul.
Revelation 19:20 -And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
“Father, thank You for creating my soul, and for providing me with the tools in which to please You, through Your Word, love and Son, I know my soul belongs to You Father, thank You in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
I never heard such nonsense It’s beyond me what this person was implying. There are individuals who use trickery to try to control the mind and actions of individuals that fall into their snare such as fortune tellers. They analysis is incorrect.
Even the devil cannot have a person’s soul. He can ensnare them and use ways to destroy their body but the soul of a person is attached to each individual who will answer to the Lord some day.
Hi Cora,
I agree with you that it was “nonsense” but also that the person may be ignorant in God’s Word. Obviously with that kind of comment, one would guess that there was a lack of understanding and/or faith.
Our souls are His and He created our souls. That whole conversation in that office waiting area was disturbing but I also found it to be very sad.
Thank you for your comments and input.
