There are many beliefs and ideologies that exist today that are contrary to God’s Word. As Christians, we are often told that we are wrong, or are forced to endure as we watch as the world around us seems to be falling apart. Is this losing? Are we being beaten by the sin and confusion that exists in this world?
God’s Word is True
The first thing we need to understand is that God’s Word is true. As such, we need to adhere to it as our foundation for living, loving others, and existing as a community of believers.
Romans 3:3-4 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
This is Paul telling us that God’s Word is true. It is not justified by the words of man. We do not judge God. Ultimately, God is the one who will judge us according to His Word.
God is Perfectly Sufficient
Our call isn’t to make enemies and beat them over the head with our faith. It is to submit to God and follow His lead. We are abiding in Him, As such, He will most assuredly guide our steps. We know this to be true if we can accept that God’s Word is true, since He has said He will guide us in His Word.
Prov 16:9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
Even if we are feeling weak, it’s fine! Just keep trusting God, because He has still “Got This!”
2 Cor 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Isn’t that amazing? We can look at ourselves and see hurting, struggling, and weakness, but at the same time, Christ’s power is right there ready to rest on us!
Identifying the True Enemy
When we start looking at those who disagree with us as the enemy, we have a real problem. They are not the true enemy. They are the victims. When we become Christians, that is a time when we are reborn, and fully accepted as participants in God’s Kingdom. If someone has not been born again, that’s not winning, victory, or anywhere close to being right. It’s a dangerous place where we should not want them to be. Our enemies are those who would have them exist in that darkness.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Who is the “flesh and blood” that we aren’t supposed to be wrestling with? I’m assuming it’s other people. The same ones we often have confrontations with. We don’t need to beat them up. We need to bring them in. Our battle is with Satan and his minions. Those who have fallen and would have others fall with them.
Reborn to Conquer
So if we believe God’s Word to be true, that Christ’s grace is sufficient, His power rests upon us, and that our battle is not with man, but with darkness, then we must also trust God when He tells us that our place is at the forefront of the battlefield, abiding in Him, and conquering.
Romans 8:37-39 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Do you see it? You’re a conqueror, and nothing is capable of conquering you and separating you from the love of God, through Christ Jesus our Lord!
Final Thought
Our starting point is in believing God. Every word He has ever given to us is truth. If He said it, you might as well believe it as a promise. When we come to that conclusion, then we can begin standing on all the various truths He has shared. We may even begin forming a much different picture about things around us, because we’re not looking at everything from the perspective of the world, but by Him who, in the beginning, created all things. We are seeing it from the Master’s perspective, and if He’s in control, you’re definitely not losing. Thank you for reading and God bless.
Questions:
What are some obstacles that are trying to bring you down? How can you use God’s Word to conquer them?
Who are some people in your life that you may see as an enemy, but it would be better to have peace with them? How can you apply God’s Word to those relationships?
