Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
A clog in my kitchen sink? Yikes! Now what?
So, the key is to trust God. I realize this may sound simple–but just think it over for a moment or two. If we truly believe God loves us and is in control of our future, would there be any room left for fear, or doubt or frustration? No. Instead, we’d commit to Him in prayer, and we’d fully comprehend that nothing will happen to us that is outside of His control. Yep! That’s right. Nothing will happen to us that is outside His control. Not even this annoying clogged up kitchen sink.
Psalm 27:3 should be on our lips in every circumstance all the days of our lives. No matter how big or small. Like our “clog” we faced in the kitchen sink! The clog was small, it wasn’t huge. But not too small for God. He handles it all, big, small and all the in-betweens. He helps His children. He really does!
So back to our clog. A sink filled with stagnant water. And, I suddenly had a revelation God is our plumber!
We have His love. That is so apparent to all who believe. The water clog is symbolic of the world. The world can get in our way of His Holy Word…and His ways. We are filled with His spirit, overflowing in fact. And, yet at times the world will try to clog all information and the flow of His Spirit. The world and the enemy look for any opening to clog our way…bringing us into turmoil and total stagnation.
The world/enemy loves bringing an abrupt and untimely halt to our purpose, our mind-set…and distracting us from His Word. And, if we are not careful, we could be swimming in stagnation.
As children of the one and only Living God, be wise as serpents and as gentle as the dove (Matthew 10:16). Be aware at all times, when things happen…run to HIM.
Likewise run to HIM when things are going smoothly. Always giving Him all the glory and honor and praise, for all things, through all our days on earth. Yep! All things (1 Thes 5:18).
There will be issues that crop up along the way. None of us are safe from the hard times, or troubles. But it’s how we flow through these issues that make the difference.
With God at the helm, guiding us through our waters, we will flow smoothly, and we will live freely. The clog is the enemy. He is the very definition of “stagnation.” He is the blockage, and the one who wants to keep us in bonds.
The Lord is SO MANY things to us. He is our Master Plumber…and His Word will keep the clog from settling in. He will sweep it away with His Word—His Love—and His Sovereign Hand.
Are you facing a clog today? If so, you know what to do. Open up your hearts and He will open your paths and uphold you with His righteous hand.
Before you know it, everything will run according to His plan. The things that can keep us in stagnant waters will be swept away, and the clogs of life will evaporate.
Listen to the water going down the drain, glub, glub, glub!
“LORD, I turn to You for all the clogged issues in life, I trust You and love You no matter the circumstances, big or small, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
This incident turned a problem into a spiritual lesson and turned frustration into praise. There was a reason this happened, could it be to prove you and to find another tool to build up your faith? It will help others too who will face challenges big or small. All can be fixed by Him running our lives.
Great job!
Hello Cora,
Seeing you respond makes me smile! I enjoy your words immensely.
Yes, it was an affirmation for me, that nothing is too “big or small” for our LORD to handle. With God in my corner, I am able to leap over small hurdles, as well as big ones! But only because of His power, not mine.
Thank you for taking the time to comment, and I’m glad you enjoyed the message.
God Bless you~
I haven’t had any clogs in my kitchen sink recently, but there are often other places in my life the enemy will attempt to clog up hindering the work of the Spirit. Thanks for sharing this analogy Camille. Envisioning a clogged up sink has helped me to identify those places where the enemy is trying to bring stagnant waters into my life.
Hi Jennifer,
I really like the way you summed up my article.
Thank you!
God Bless~
