According to the Christian Post, one Christian is killed every 6 minutes because of their faith. Take a moment to read that again. Does this disturb you? If it does then you are one step closer to knowing your purpose as a Christian. If knowing that others are being martyred does not have an impact on you then I am sorry to say you should be worried — Revelation 2:4 New American Standard Bible (NASB) tells us that “…you have abandoned your first love.”
But what has caused Christians to turn a blind eye to those in need?
There is new technology to buy, houses to upgrade, and latest fashion to try. All of this is a menacing distraction from the most important job we were meant to carry out – to spread the good news. Going to church now is about socializing—upgrading our selfie album, organizing parties, and gossip to mention a few. What distraction is the enemy using on you? In Luke 19:40 New International Version (NIV) Jesus said:
I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.
If we don’t do our job who will?
There are millions of people in need of a forgiving, cleansing, and comforting love.
In a world being carried away by distractions be the detour sign remembering us to live in the truth—that is Christ. I encourage you to tell one person a day about God’s gracious love for them.
“Let us not glide through this world and then slip quietly into heaven, without having blown the trumpet loud and long for our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Let us see to it that the devil will hold a thanksgiving service in hell, when he gets the news of our departure from the field of battle.”
