Freedom from Spiritual Oppression

Freedom from Spiritual Oppression

By Joel B.

2 Tim 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Friends, I want to talk to you about the freedom the believer in Christ has from spiritual oppression. Many a Christian deals with symptoms of this such a depression, lack of interest in daily activities, anger, fatigue, or just all-out spiritual attacks on your mind. Well, I’m going to tell you how to snap the demonic hold in half so it’s no longer bothering you.

We Are Royalty

Eph 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

As Paul states in Ephesians, God has raised us up to sit in heavenly places. That’s right. We are princes and princesses in Christ. The demonic hosts were once heavenly hosts that lost their place, so we need to understand that we are above them. They are not royalty and we are!

We Have Authority

Next I’m going to give you two more verses that show us we have authority over demons:

Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

1 Cor 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

These are some powerful scriptures. Not only does it say that the spirits are subject to us as believers, but it also says we will judge angels. That is some royal authority! Also, keep in mind that “angels” includes “demons” as well. So this scripture is saying that we have the authority to judge demonic angels or Satan’s angels. In Revelation 12:9 it clearly speaks of Satan and his angels (demons).

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Jesus Gives Us Freedom

John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Freedom can certainly be found in Jesus Christ. If you reach out to Him fully with your heart He will set you free, and if this happens you are “free indeed.” That is a promise in scripture. Also, I ask that you remember this scripture:

1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

When we accept Jesus into our lives, He is within us and He is more powerful than he (Satan) that is in the world. So we can be of good cheer knowing that our freedom rests within us as believers.

Final Thoughts

In closing, I just want to say spiritual oppression can be a dogfight that takes time. If you feel you are struggling in this matter, then I would suggest getting a Christian spiritual counselor that can walk you through things that the enemy might be using as strongholds against you. Also, put on the full armor of God mentioned in Ephesians 6, which will help you take the authority in Christ that I talked about earlier. Let’s press forward my friends. Thank you for reading and God bless.
