God’s word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path
It guides me in the way of truth
And keeps me from God’s wrath
Psalm 119:105 – NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
God’s word is given by His breath
And is profitable for all
It teaches me the doctrine
And corrects me when I fall
2 Timothy 3:16 -All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
God’s word is pure and perfect
And a shield to those who trust
It warns me of the dangers
And protects me from the unjust
Proverbs 30:5 -Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
God’s word is sweet and precious
And more desirable than gold
It fills my soul with joy and peace
And makes me strong and bold
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psalm 19:10-11 –Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
God’s word is hidden in my heart
And I meditate on it day and night
It transforms my thoughts and actions
And draws me closer to His light
Psalm 119:11 – Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Here below is a good start for those who are just learning the Bible – who are just in the beginning stages, milk so to speak. It varies on the ages, some adults I was working with didn’t know the answers, so it’s a great quiz and discussion to help those in the early stages trying to get acquainted in the Word. However, for the most part – I offered this very quick quiz to children in Bible study and I was surprised at how well they did!
Just one way to share the Word with individuals beginning to absorb the Word and its significance overall. It’s a great way to bring children into the world of God and His Word, and a great way to offer an exercise that will let them adapt to “listening” and adhering to His voice. And makes for a good discussion with the children.
Please answer the following questions about the Bible.
What is—
- The first book of the Bible
- The number of commandments God gave to Moses
- The name of the garden where Adam and Eve lived
- The prophet who was swallowed by a big fish
- The apostle who betrayed Jesus
- The city where Jesus was born
- The last book of the Bible
- The name of the sea that God parted for the Israelites
- The king who had a dream interpreted by Daniel
- The name of the son that God promised to Abraham
- The disciple who doubted Jesus’ resurrection
- The woman who turned into a pillar of salt
- The first murderer in the Bible
To absorb God’s word, we need to listen to it attentively and obey it faithfully. When we do, it’s a lifelong opportunity to serve Him in the fullest capacity we possibly can. And it is a weapon of defense in our daily interactions, all the days of our lives. There is nothing quite like it, and it is the single most important relationship you will ever have all your days on earth, and beyond.
Are you fully equipped? Do you know the Word and feel comfortable applying it in your life? Do you help others along the way to the “light?”
“Father, may I be an instrument in Your Army as I serve You with all my heart and soul, may I contribute to those who are in the dark and lead them by Your Spirit into the Light, may I aspire to be all that is according to Your will and Your purpose in my life, today and always, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Good job Camille, I love the questions and will be using them with my Sunday school children. Very helpful. Blessings, Jennifer
Hi Jennifer,
Thank you so much. Glad you found these questions helpful. You’d be surprised how many “adult Christians” miss these questions.
God Bless~
