God’s Favored Religion

James 1:27” Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep one self unstained by the world. Jesus was the classic example of this pure and undefiled religion God desires from us. He went about helping those in distress. He delivered the demon-possessed, healed the sick and strengthened the weak. Let’s not forget he gave the widow back her dead son.

Jesus said he performs the work of him who sent me while it is still day. While it is still day we too are invited to work for the Father. God has equipped us with power to accomplish every good work there is in Christ Jesus. We lay hands on the sick they will recover; we speak freedom to the captives loosing them from bondage. We know a single mother or a widow advanced in years that need some extra groceries or a ride to the doctor. We meet these needs in the compassion of Jesus Christ. We serve with the attitude that our Father who sees in secret will reward us in the open. We are not doing it for the reward but because we love and honor God and we want to be a blessing to the Body of Christ.

God the Father and Jesus Christ are shining examples of what pure and undefiled religion are: Father God sent Jesus to die for us and he did not make an international spectacle about it and now the result of his extravagant love; millions upon millions have named Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Jesus the meekest man to walk the earth died a cruel and unjust death. He did not shout it on the rooftops and God exalted Him to the right hand of power in heaven. His name is above every name in heaven and earth.
