When was the last time you were at your lowest point? Today? Yesterday? Or maybe even now? Like a carousel, there are times in our life when all we can do is go up and down on the ride as the world’s scenery changes and passes by.
Sometimes we take advice from our friends, but they may not have the words we need to hear. Like Job, the advice of his closest companions only drove him further into frustration as they continued to point the fingers of blame back, leaving him with more questions than he began.
Other moments we seek wisdom from the scholars of Google and their infinite degrees of varied unaccredited answers. We may read the situations of others and do our best to apply it to our own, but there always seems to be a missing component to their response.
Maybe that missing piece is Jesus.
We in our own power can only go so far. Circumstances arise that wipe out our ability to control the situation. In these times, there is only one who can give us the supernatural strength that we need to carry on. When we continually rely upon ourselves, we open up the door to failure on a regular basis placing us back on the carousel of life.
King Solomon, deemed to be the wisest and wealthiest man ever known, wrote several reflections upon his daily life leaving pieces of advice for those who were to come after him. Knowing all of the choices to which he made, he stated,
“There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12)
On our own, we may believe we are headed in the right direction, but the truth is, we made a wrong turn five miles back.
How then do we get off this continual spinning wheel if we can’t find the answers we need from our friends, family, or the Internet? We seek out God’s unabiding love and truth in His word, the bible, the necessary element to break free from the chains that bind us to the ride.
Great article! To get off this “ride” takes faith and courage!
Thank you for your comments. Faith and trust are the biggest challenge.
