Humanity Is NOT In Control- Seek Security In God

One thing that humanity has no control over is natural disasters. As I write this, there have recently been two earthquakes over 7 magnitudes. Just before this article was published another 6.9 quake has struck Papau New Guinea. The earth is shaking! Among all the disasters that the world is seeing, like floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and fires, I want to focus on earthquakes. Not to minimize the destruction and loss of life by these other disasters, there is nothing like the ground shaking beneath you or to see buildings swaying, to lose your sense of security. I lived in Southern California of the United States, an area prone to earthquakes, for a long time and experienced several “moving” moments.

I was shocked to see the horrible destruction caused by the earthquake in Myanmar, as tall buildings literally tipped over or crumbled to the ground. People were, not surprisingly, in panic and fear. Their sense of security was totally obliterated.

Earthquakes should be a wake-up call to not put one’s safety and security in what happens on Planet Earth. There is a spiritual element to it. The Bible of Christianity has a lot to say about earthquakes, and it will happen because it is part of prophecy, and Bible prophecy from the inspired Word of God has always been 100 percent accurate to the exact detail.

There is coming a time when, according to a prophecy given in Revelation 16:18-20, there will be “a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on earth…every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found.” The strongest earthquake ever recorded was in 1960, in Chili, with a 9.5 magnitude. So, the one prophesied in the above verse will be even stronger.

Another shaker is prophesied in Zechariah 14:4. When Jesus returns, “…the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward.”  A fault line under the Mount of Olives was discovered in 2013. A prophecy given thousands of years ago predicted an earthquake in that precise area long before humans discovered a fault. So, who is really in control? God!

In the final days before the return of Jesus, God will use earthquakes to display his judgment. In the meantime, expect them to occur more frequently with more intensity, because the Bible refers to them, along with other calamities, as birth pangs (Matthew 24:8). Things will get to the point where “the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, will hide themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains” (Revelation 6:15).

Put your safety and security in God, now, before it is too late. Call upon his grace and forgiveness for the eternal redemption of your soul.  Let him be your Savior.

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust’”(Psalm 91:1-2).

Be able to speak the words of Psalm 46:1-3“God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore I will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its water roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.”

  1. Very powerful message that needs to be sent out and heeded. These areas that have been affected already are on record and the damage is monumental as we view many of them happening all over the world during and after the destruction. There is no doubt about such activity and yet many don’t acknowledge God but are in the dark when they talk about Mother Nature which doesn’t make sense as there is no evidence of something called ‘nature’ giving thought patterns within itself and can purposefully bring about change or any reasoning to act upon in anger.
It is a time for panic that pricks the hearts for those up close and personal. Is the Lord trying to get our attention? That is why He gives us warning in His word! I have yet to hear a person say, “Oh Mother Nature, help me!” I do hear that people are yelling out to God in these moments. Think about it if you were to face this reality.
Take off the blinders and see the Lord and heed His words.
