Do you really believe God answers your prayers? Do you feel like you are wasting your time praying? God knows you ask these types of questions. Do not be afraid He has a big heart and we are the apple of His eye. God is so tuned in to our prayers that He invites us to come boldly to His throne of grace:
I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers! Isaiah 65:24
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16
Notice the Lord is declaring to us that He wants us to come boldly into His presence and bring our requests to Him. In fact, He expects us to bring our needs to Him. He said to come to His throne boldly and with CONFIDENCE. He is not sitting on His throne just waiting to zap us because we bring our requests to him. He is grieved when we try and work out life’s problems on our own. What parent likes it when they’re children do not come and talk to them about their fears and struggles? Certainly God does not enjoy it when His children do not come and bring their burdens to Him in prayer.
God is very capable and willing to listen to and answer our prayers. Too many people think that they are not worthy to bring their prayer requests to our Father. They think along these lines: Oh I sinned 525 times today and I know God is angry with me because I sinned so many times. I need to go out and help 10 people or I need to read my bible for 5 extra hours tomorrow morning before I can feel worthy enough to come to God in prayer. You know God will not hear me if I do not get up at 4:00a.m, in the morning and start my prayer time. Do these prayer stoppers sound familiar?
God has made prayer a lot easier than we have made it. He said He would answer us before we call. He would hear us before we even speak our needs to Him. How simple is that? God will already answer us before we call! He is so merciful He will answer us before we call.
Another misconception in prayer is the thinking that God is not interested in the small things occurring in our lives. Oh really! He has every one of our hairs numbered. You cannot be more concerned about small details than having every hair of every human being numbered. I know God answers the smallest prayers we can pray. No need we have is too small to bring to God in prayer.
Let me explain. Many years ago when I was in the Air Force, I noticed that one of my car’s tires was missing a valve. I shot up a quick prayer. “Lord, I need a new valve for my tire.” Yeah right like God would answer a prayer like that! Later that day I was talking to a co-worker and told him about my missing tire valve. So he says he will be right back. He goes down to his bicycle for a minute. He comes back up and hands me a tire valve off his bicycle tire. God cares about our smallest needs and He answers when you ask Him for a tire valve!
Would you be willing to ask God for a very small need? I challenge you to pray for a small need the next time you have one. God will answer your prayer!
