What a blessing it is that God is with us. He said He would never leave us or forsake us. He has been involved with His family since the creation of the world. He revealed Himself through Jesus Christ who the prophet Isaiah called “Immanuel-God is with us.” Contrary to some theories expounded that God is an impersonal God who created the universe and just left it to its own device. God has been intimately involved with His creation and family since day 1.
Jesus appearing on the earth as “Immanuel” was the ultimate statement from God that He cares about us and is keenly aware of all events that take place on our planet. No one but a loving God would send His only begotten Son to earth and make His unexplainable love known to us. God couldn’t stand to be separated from us even when we sinned. God’s mercy, love and justice were all met in Immanuel on the cross. Truly God and only God would come up with the ultimate plan to send Jesus to us. God dying for us is truly “God with us.” Paul tells us in Ephesians 3:18
And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.
Jesus explained the love of God to us as well demonstrating that great love among us. Immanuel healed the sick, set the prisoners free and gave mothers their children back from the dead. He freed the demonically possessed and taught us the two greatest commandments:
He answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27
Jesus lived out these two truths better than any human alive. He continually loved the Lord His God with all his heart, soul and mind. He never disobeyed a command His Father instructed Him. He loved his neighbor as Himself. He touched the leper (In those days you touched a leper and you could be stoned. You were unclean if you touched one.) But Jesus being God cleansed the leper because of His great love for His neighbor. Imagine man creates a law saying touch this leper and you will be stoned. God comes among us and touches a leper because His love sees a person of value. Truly in Jesus Christ- God is with us.
