A biblical worldview should be apparent in the lives of all professing Christians. Looking at the world through a biblical lens helps us to discern Godly ideas from worldly ideas and gives us a blueprint for our lives.
The biblical worldview is in strong opposition to any secular ideology being put forth. In a world that is opposed to God that shouldn’t be a surprise. The Bible being the infallible word of God should help us Christians to trust and obey the truths found within.
There are an abundance of ideologies out there that claim to be Christian. But the bulk of them are just empty worldly ideologies draped in Christian catch phrases. Using Christian verbiage to deceive those that aren’t able to discern well. Looking at these things through a biblical lens one has greater ability to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Here’s how I like to help people cultivate their biblical worldview. Using 4 words and asking questions about them helps in the process.
Origin, meaning, morality and destiny.
These 4 words can help us to really look at our worldview and flesh it out.
Origin – Where did we come from?
Look in Genesis, we were created by God
Genesis 1:26-27 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Meaning – From where do we find our meaning?
In Jesus Christ alone
John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Morality – Where does our morality come from?
God’s law.
Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Destiny – where are we going? To spend eternity with Jesus.
2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Studying these verses and more like them will help you in the process. I don’t think there is a hard set of rules concerning your worldview. This is just one way a person can help themselves solidify their Christian worldview.
Conscience and conviction separate ourselves from any other form of life. It is a mirror of our mind and heart. Those that harden their heart seem to lose theses necessary acknowledgments and they continue in wicked behaviors. Only the Holy Spirit can get through to them when they are so far removed from what is just and true.
That is where the Ten Commandments (moral laws) is needed to bring conviction of their transgressions. The Lord uses all scripture to enlighten and guide us to Himself.
2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)
All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Thank you for sharing your use of God’s word to help those you speak to that can be beneficial to others to use as a platform for giving the good news of salvation to others. God bless.
