Peace, Hope, And Security In A Troubled And Changing World

The world is in the midst of dramatic changes. We do not know what to expect or the consequences that go with it. Here are 10 of what I believe to be the most significant events at present or planned for the very near future.

1. Nations rising against nations, and people groups against people groups, with earthquakes, famines, pestilences, terrors, great signs from heaven, and “distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves”(Luke 21: 10-11 & 25-26), happening with greater frequency and intensity like “birth pangs” (Matthew 24:8).

2. Lawlessness is becoming worse and worse. (Matthew 24:8).

3. More powerful hurricanes.

4. Wars in the Middle East and The Ukraine.

5. Artificial intelligence.

6. The 2024 global elections in more than 50 countries, with post-election uprisings in some countries predicted, especially in the United States.

7. A big increase in automation taking away human jobs in the next several years.

8. Transhumanism, connecting humans with computers.

9. A one-world government is already in the making.

10. Central Bank Digital Currency (CBCD), cashless society, along with bank failures.

With all of the uncertainty and insecurity people need some “spiritual anchors” to hold onto. There are five such “anchors of the soul” against the waves of changing and troubling times.

The anchor of truth. Humanity needs to know the truth about God, and Jesus, who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No person comes to the Father except by me”(John 14:6), “that he is the mediator between God and man, who desires all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth”(1 Timothy 2:4-6), and that “there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved”(Acts 4:12).

The anchor of peace. Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you, not as the world gives…Let not your hearts be troubled; neither let them be afraid”(John 14:1 & 27). Experience the “peace that passes all human comprehension”(Ephesians 4:6-7).

The anchor of hope. Psalm 33:22 says, “Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.”

The anchor of security. “He who dwells in the shelter of the most high will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, My God in whom I trust. When you call to me I will answer. I will be with you in trouble”(Psalm 91:1-2 & 15).

The anchor of God’s love, as expressed in Romans 8:38-39. No matter how  troubling things become you can be sure that no “things present nor things to come…will be able to separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

”If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved”(Romans 10:9-10).
