Prayers For The Hurricane Victims

Most people are not able to be on the site of the Hurricane Helene’s destruction to help in physical ways. Many may not be able to give money. However, we can all offer up prayers for the victims, their families, and those providing the basic needs, in those places that are accessible. Here are some verses from the Book of Psalms that I have turned into prayers, and that all of you readers can also make them your prayers as well.

Dear Lord and God, “Turn to them and be gracious to them,  for they are lonely and afflicted. The troubles of their hearts are enlarged. Bring them out of their distresses” (Psalm 25:16-17). “May you be their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”(Psalm 46:1). “May you be their helper and the upholder of their lives”(Psalm 54:4). “May you deliver the needy when they call, the poor and they that have no helper. Have pity on the weak and the needy, and save the lives of the needy”(Psalm 72:12-13). “Hear our prayers, O Lord. Let our cry come to you. Do not hide your face from them, in the days of their distress. Incline your ear to them and answer them speedily when they call. Regard the prayer of those who are destitute, and do not despise their prayer”(Psalm 102:1-2 & 17). “Though they walk in the midst of trouble, preserve their lives”(Psalm 138:7).

Lord, we pray for the relief organizations as they seek to provide basic needs and clear roads. We pray for the safety of those seeking to restore power. We pray for the doctors and nurses taking care of the wounded. We pray for those still unaccounted for. We pray for the families who have lost loved ones. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Let’s continue to pray during this hurricane season for those who have lost all they have. And, as of this writing, there are four more storms lined up in the ocean. But let’s not forget all the other natural disasters all over the world, the floods, the fires, the heatwaves, and other disasters, that are taking lives.

Let us all be thankful for each day we have, for we do not know what will happen. Let’s make every day count, and not take any day for granted.

“Lord, we once again come to you, and pray for all those affected by hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, fires, heatwaves, and other disasters, natural or human caused. In Jesus name, Amen.”
