The Blazing Word

I think it would be a fair assumption that many of us have been faced with the challenge of sharing God’s Word with others. What do we say to those struggling? What do we say to those who are in need of salvation? It can be hard to utter the right words, even when we know what we want to say.

The Mouth of Moses

God can use any of us. We just have to be willing to do our part and put our trust in Him. Moses, the prophet, struggled with this at first. He faced many a trial in his life, and then one day God spoke to him through a burning bush (Exo 3:2-4). It’s interesting that God formally introduced himself in such a manner, because Moses considered speech to be a weakness of his, yet God used speech to connect with him.

Exo 4:10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.

God knew Moses struggled before he ever mentioned it, but He also had a plan, and His response to Moses was profound.

Exo 4:11-12 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

Now how can anybody argue with that? God made your mouth, and if He can also be with your mouth, then what do any of us have to fear?

Difficult Speech Made Easy

So if God is with our mouth, how can we apply that through ministry? Well, first it’s important to understand the power of God’s Word.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

This means that God’s Word can pierce and divide spirit and soul with perfect precision, and if we don’t know what to say, we can start with what God has already said. Simply take scripture and share it. We don’t have to do anything more than share what is already there. That’s it. God’s Word will do the rest. If it’s what God has already said, and someone wants to disagree, then they are disagreeing with God. If they want to argue, then their argument is with God. We don’t have to add anything, because God’s Word is sufficient.

2 Tim 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Final Thought

We all have things we struggle with or perceive as flaws. That doesn’t mean we aren’t capable of ministering to others. These things actually might be what God is going to use through each of us to reach others. We just need to be faithful and move when God tells us to move, and speak when it’s time to speak. If we don’t know what to say, then say what God already said. At the very least, sharing scripture is going to plant a seed. Maybe we didn’t see the results we were expecting. Well then, we can water it with some more scripture the next time an opportunity presents itself. Rest assured, God is going to get the results when we are faithful in such a manner. Thank you for reading and God bless.

Questions:

1. What are some situations you encounter regularly that may present an opportunity for sharing scripture?

2. Who are some people in your life that could benefit from having a spiritual seed planted in them?

  1. Loved this article. Indeed God is to be our strength and help. Memorizing is important as we don’t carry around a Bible much of the time to pull it out of our pockets and show to others.
His words are what spoke all that we see, hear, and research about this world by Him revealing it to mankind.
Hope many read and apply this to their way of thinking and living.

Applying the principles of Christianity along with the Word, how can anyone go wrong?
In fact, it may prove to be a revelation to those who don’t quite know about the LORD yet!
