The Lord your God in Your Midst… Zephaniah 3:17
What a powerful truth God has spoken through the, prophet Zephaniah. The Almighty God in our midst and He is always present with His children. We can always walk in victory with our God in our midst. We are told in the book written by John that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. The One who created the one in the world is dwelling in our spirits. The Father of lights, the One Who parted the Red Sea for Israel, is dwelling closer in us than our next heartbeat.
We need to remember this truth that God is mighty in our midst. Think what this means. Every obstacle, spiritual attack, storm that comes our way we find God is walking through these events with us. Not only is He walking with us, but He is walking before us and He has been walking before us since the day we became born-again. God has the resources to help us overcome anything in this life. What liberation to know that we can access his supernatural power anytime we want. We can take authority over the enemy and every contrary wind that blows against us in our journey.
Paul knew this truth to be so true in his life. He was shipwrecked, flogged, imprisoned and stoned for his faith. He conquered overwhelmingly in all these hardships because he knew that God was with him all the time. Remember when Paul and Silas were imprisoned in that dingy prison? Midnight comes rolling around and they started praising God. Why? They knew He was in their midst. What did God do? He sent an earthquake that shook the foundations of the jail and all the prisoner’s fetters fell off and the prison doors opened.
Peter was another apostle who knew what it meant for God to be in his midst. Peter had been arrested and was sleeping between two guards. God sends an angel to deliver Peter. The angel wakes Peter up and leads him out of prison. The gates open up supernaturally, and Peter walks out of jail as free as a bird.
We today as believers have the same God with us, as Peter and Paul had with them. We saw in the above examples how God was mighty in their presence and delivered them miraculously. He did it for them and He will do it for us. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
