Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
When we think about the eternal nature of God, who is the source and the goal of all things, and realize He transcends time and space, and has complete Sovereignty over all creation, is mind-blowing and beyond comprehension at times. The LORD revealed visions to John allowed Him to see into the future, giving Him the prophecy of the end times.
One has to imagine how John felt seeing what was flashing before him, and trying to absorb the incredible visions the LORD gave Him access to. Imagine for a moment, that you were “John” and seeing this. How would you react? Did you ever think about it?
Revelation 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
5:5 – Introduces Jesus Christ as the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the descendant of King David, who has the authority and the power to open the scroll that contains the judgments of God. Of course, also known and referred to as the Lamb of God, who was slain for the sins of the world, for you and for me. Our Great LORD who is worthy of all praise and worship. Do you worship Him daily? How do You worship Him?
Revelation 12:11 – And they overcame Him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
12:11 -Getting into details about the spiritual battle. It describes the victory of the saints over the dragon, who is Satan, the accuser of the brethren. They overcome him by the blood of the Lamb, which is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that cleanses them from all sin, and by the word of their testimony, which is the confession of their faith and the proclamation of the Gospel. They also love not their lives unto the death, which means they are willing to suffer and die for the sake of Christ. They gave of themselves willingly and purposely. But they overcome by the Blood of the Lamb, Christ – that is to say our Savior. How do you feel knowing we have victory in the name of Jesus? Have you ever rejoiced knowing that His precious blood covers us and is the deterrent against all evil?
Revelation 13:16-18 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
13:16-18 -Describes the power and the deception of the beast, who is the Antichrist, the false messiah, who will rule the world for a short time before the return of Christ. He will entice and try to persuade everyone to receive his mark, which is a sign of allegiance and worship, and without which no one can participate in the economic system. The mark is also associated with his name and his number, which is 666, a symbol of human imperfection and rebellion against God.
We as Christians have to continue to serve the One true King of kings and LORD of lords. We have to continue to download His Word into our brain on a daily basis and align with His Gospel in all we do. Do you see how the world is changing before our eyes? And do you see the destructive patterns that are occurring on a daily basis?
Revelation 21:1-4 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
21:1-4 -These passages should bring explosive joy into the hearts of all Christians alike. Here John is shown the glorious future that awaits the faithful followers of Christ, who will inherit the new heaven and the new earth, where God will dwell with them in perfect harmony and peace.
The new Jerusalem is the Heavenly city, the dwelling place of God and His people, where there will be no more sin, suffering, or death. It is the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promise and plan for his creation. This is the reason and the ultimate goal for all of His faithful followers and believers. This is the template of morality in which we ascribe each day in order to be a part of this idyllic paradise and bask in the promises of Christ, and worship Him daily forever. Did you ever seriously sit down and take the time to absorb His message to us in the book of Revelation? What do you think about the enormity of these visions?
Revelation -which is to say “Revealing or uncovering” is fascinating and it clearly should fill those with great faith with confidence as they read through it.
This is a book that will take us a little longer to grasp but it’s worth taking the time and diligence and dedication. Try delving into the concordance, while putting an effort into studying it. Many Christians are not too familiar with this book, and not many Pastors or Preachers seem to favor speaking about it. Other than a verse or two, maybe some more than others. But this is a book that we should all become intimately aware of, and all of its nuances and overt metaphors, truth and meaning overall.
Are you ready for the revelation about the Book of Revelation? It’s time to get into His Word folks- the day is drawing near…
“Father God, thank You for the book of Revelation, and for giving us a glimpse into what will take place, thank You for Your Word, and Your truth, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Thank you Camille. There are various reasons why we stay clear of this book, but no excuse will do. Blessed is the one who reads and keeps the message therein and with the guidance of the Spirit it is a book to be read and truly enjoyed.
Jennifer,
Thank you!
Yes, there are many reasons, but the LORD wants us to read and learn it.
I always tell others who have no “interest” in learning about it – “God wouldn’t have included this important message and visions to John if He didn’t want us to know it.”
Blessings to you my friend~
REVELATION IS SO DIFFICULT BUT SO WORT READING
Hello Keith,
I agree!
Thank you,
God Bless~
World events are right now laying the groundwork for the fulfillment of Revelation. It is longer a book to be seen as way out in the distant future. One third of the Bible is prophetic. Revelation is easier to understand when one knows what can be taken literally and what is symbolic. It is indeed unfortunate that it is being neglected by most pastors, because there is a huge amount of interest in prophecy, even among non-Christians.
John, that is such an accurate description, and I am in total agreement with you.
I personally find it fascinating. The first time I read it in my youth, I didn’t quite get it. But the more I read and studied on it, the more clarity and vision I grasped, until I said, “Oh LORD, so that is what you are saying!”
Thank you.
God Bless~
