When one speaks it is a powerful thing. Whether you lift up your voice to praise God, or even use it for something less honorable, we’re still influencing the world around us, and maybe even ourselves. Words can affirm, or even destroy, but it all streams from the heart (Luke 6:45). Now in the spirit of affirmation, I would like to share a reading and would encourage you to speak it aloud, but the most important thing is that you speak it from your heart. It can also be used as a reading in front of a group or from the pulpit. I call this reading, “This Same Jesus”.

THIS SAME JESUS…
Who existed from before the beginning of creation, the second person of the Trinity.
The great “I AM” of the Old Testament.
Who was manifested in the flesh as a baby born without a sin nature supernaturally to the virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life in thought, word, and deed.
Who walked on water, healed the sick, restored sight to the blind, and did countless other miracles.
Who said he is “the bread of life…the light of the world… and the way, the truth, and the life.”
Who has the power to forgive sins.
Who calmed the physical storms, and calms the storms in our lives.
THIS SAME JESUS…
Who died on a cross to redeem humanity.
Who rose from the dead physically and bodily, whose empty tomb exists today, with no explanation except that He is alive forevermore.
Who appeared in his glorified body for 40 days upon the earth after his resurrection, with the nail prints in his hands from the cross.
Who physically ascended to the Father in front of his disciples.
Who today sits at the right hand of the throne of God.
THIS SAME JESUS…
To whom we pray in his name and He hears and answers our prayers.
Who holds the entire universe together.
To whom we can come for grace in times of need.
Who orchestrates events in our lives for God’s glory.
Who loves and cares for us more than we can imagine.
THIS SAME JESUS…
Is coming again very soon in the same manner he was seen ascending. “This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11)…”To whom every knee shall bow… and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11).

We are in the time in history when many signs of his Second Coming are evident. We will soon see Jesus, the God-Man, in the flesh-our Redeemer and Savior. How does that grab you?
