I lived the first 24 years of my life lost and longing for more–longing for things I couldn’t describe because I wasn’t sure what they were at first. Have you ever found yourself like this–wandering and searching for more?
You can go to church and not be saved. And if you aren’t saved I want to plead to your wandering heart.
Your life is precious and it will be lost forever if you aren’t saved–a born again Christian. But it is never too late for you. No matter what you’ve done in the past, when you ask the Lord to forgive your sins, and accept Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior, you are washed clean of your past. I was once lost, wandering the streets hoping to find my way and make my mark on the world. I sought something that would fill me, fix me, and give me pleasure. I wandered aimlessly for so long hoping someone would recognize me by name, only to be left empty. With each passing day I became even more empty than before. It was a never-ending cycle with no hope in sight.
You may seek not knowing what you are trying to find, yet there is a deep longing, a knowing there is more than what you have. You hope to be filled, to find your niche, a place to call home.
That longing was placed in your heart when you were fashioned by the Creator, the Lord, who is the real lover of your soul. He longs to have a relationship with you, and that longing in your heart is for Him. That is how the longing will be filled–the only way the longing will be satisfied.
Don’t be fooled when the world tells you that making more money or buying more things will satisfy you, because they won’t. They just leave you wanting more because those things are only temporary pleasures.
So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27 (NLT)
And that man, Jesus Christ, that you’ve heard about Who hung on THAT cross really did come to save you. It’s not just a story made up by people long ago, it’s a true story of a real man who really loves you. While no one can force God on you, He deeply desires to have a relationship with you. He desires for you to know Him as your heavenly father. And He loves you more deeply than anyone can love you.
“I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.” Proverbs 8:17 (NIV)
“But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 4:29 (NIV)
Do you desire a closer relationship with the Lord? What are you doing to strengthen that relationship?
