Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Has anyone ever experienced a hair standing spine tingling event?
Raise of hands please? One, two, three?
You know, when suddenly your body has powerful chills coursing up and down your spine. And the hairs on your head feel as if someone rubbed a balloon over it… so your hair is standing up? It’s quite exhilarating!
Well, it might help if I explained to what I am referring to. I am speaking about a Christian event. More specifically, a Christian Worship group performing moving songs to the LORD. It is electrifying, to be with a huge group of Christians, sharing the love of Christ in their hearts joined together in worshipping the King of kings, and LORD of lords. Hands raised, eyes closed, tears flowing.
When in that kind of atmosphere, I feel His Spirit, and I always hear Jesus’ words, from Matthew 18:20.
Christians gathered in His name, glorifying Him, lifting Him up in worship and prayer. And yet, there are those who may think we are fanatics, or zealots. Some may mock and taunt. There have been many who say we look abnormal standing and holding hands up and praying. They may think we’re weird, or as so often heard, Bible thumpers. Call us what you will. But we have one thing in common. We share in the love of Jesus. And His love for us. I wish to state emphatically, and unequivocally that His love and His Mercy supersedes all else!
Yet the ones that point fingers at a Christian gathering. These same individuals might attend secular concerts and/or activities in which they stand up and jump and cheer. Which is okay, I say to each their own. I’ve attended regular concerts in my day, so not a big deal.
But my question is, why is it when Christians exhibit it in worship, it becomes an entirely different course of action and circumstance?
Sadly, it’s from being ignorant in the Word, or a lack of faith, or both. They think it’s foolishness. They think we are the strange ones, which 1 Corinthians 2:14 points out rather nicely.
We do have to tend to the world while we’re in it. Meaning, life itself, routines, tasks, responsibilities, etc. But we as Christians have a sanctity within us that propels us to promulgate matters of the soul, heart and love of Jesus. We stay within the confines of a life that is a barometer of righteousness. At least we try each day to fulfil it. We as it’s been said, fall short most times. But we never stop walking that narrow path that leads to Eternal rewards.
We forge on and keep trying our best to be a reflection of Christ in our dealings of people, issues and whatever circumstances we may face on a daily basis. We can do so only because of Christ.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
There is no reason we can’t be all things to all people within reason. We need to nourish the Word and digest its contents, which will allow us to move through any kind of situation with ease. It’s only by His hands and through His grace we are able to survive times of hardship, trials, tribulations and all the in between arenas of life.
When we aspire to take on the meaning of real love, we find it!
And to me love is spelled, J E S U S!!!!
Lord, to You be the glory!
Amen!
Your faith in Christ and deep love for Him and His Word shines through yet again, Camille.
