Do not Mix Light with Darkness

A believer marrying a non- believer is like mixing water and oil together; the outcome will be anything less than fruitful and harmonious. God warns us through Paul that we should not partner with non-Christians in the marriage relationship. 2Corinthians 6:14-17” Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? 16Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, “I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM;
AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. 17“Therefore, COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE,” says the Lord. “AND DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN; And I will welcome you.

The Lord of Hosts says in verses 14-17 that absolutely light (Christians) are not to be yoked with darkness (Non-Christians).The Lord tells us that Christ and Belial have nothing in harmony with one another. So a born again believer in Christ should not be marrying a person who does not recognize Jesus as his Lord and Savior. This type of union will bring disunity in all areas of life. The couple will not agree on spiritual, physical or financial concerns. They will not be one in flesh as the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light will never have the same goal for the human soul.

The Lord stresses the importance in the New Testament of his people walking in the unity of love and the spirit. The power of God is manifested in the household when the married couple is in union with the Lord. God said to come out from their midst and be separated unto him and that he would walk among us and be our God.
God welcomes a martial union that is light walking hand in hand with light. Not light walking hand in hand with darkness. We cannot be a reflection of Christ in this world unless we are yoked in marriage with another believer. So people of God stay evenly yoked within the house of God and watch the Father work wonders within your unified household.
