Nothing Will Be Impossible With God

The archangel Gabriel appeared to Mary and announced the plans God made for her young life. He talked of an amazing feat, only God could complete. Although the plan specifically called for Mary’s person, Gabriel proclaimed a simple truth that resonates throughout humanity even today. Luke 1:37 quotes Gabriel saying this:

“For nothing will be impossible with God”

As head of my household, I need to set the example for my wife and children. Sometimes, I erroneously take on a machoism persona, especially when life’s trials show up. You know: “Never let ‘em see you sweat.” But truthfully, life can really put your faith to the test sometimes, amen? The world has a sinister way of proving just how powerless your best efforts can be against its might. I love Jesus as much as the next Christian, but I still succumb to the pressures of fear and doubt. That really makes it hard to remain stone-faced in front of my family, in the presence of turmoil.

Fortunately, our God shared that powerful and simple scripture with us. I have to tell you: it isn’t always easy for me to put my trust in the scripture, but He’s never failed me before. Whenever I’ve come across a situation seemingly impossible to conquer, God has always delivered me, no matter what the circumstance may have been. Nothing will be impossible with God. He proves that to me time and again.

For my children, nothing proves the Sovereign power of God like watching Him intervene on our behalf. They learn-from experience-that the faithful followers of God are blessed with His love and protection. Sure we stumble…a lot. We’re all human living in a sinful world. We’re destined to mess up from time to time. But it seems that God never turns His back on his faithful followers. It’s like His plans for our lives will not be deterred. One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah 25:1 which reads:

“Oh Lord, you are my God. I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things; things planned long ago.”

God is just too big to fail. Even though I may falter and my façade my crack under pressure, my family follows me because the God whom we serve never falters. It does my heart good to know that, even if my family doubts my ability to lead sometimes, they have learned-and are still learning-to put their trust in the God who never fails, no matter the circumstances.
