The Harm of an Absentee Father

What would God’s family do if God the father abandons us or forsakes us? What if he left us alone? The church family would be totally lost without the guidance and care of the Father’s gentle hands. The rains would cease and the crops would stop growing, in the final analysis the world would be in a sorry state.

Let’s bring it closer to home. How tragic it is when a Father of a human family forsakes or abandons His family and does not follow through on the lifelong commitment he made to support, uphold and guide that family for the rest of his natural life. Father’s abandoning their families is a rampant tragedy in America and has become accepted as the norm in our American culture. Deuteronomy 31:8 “It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” God will never forsake or abandon his family always being there to guide and comfort us in our daily walk with him.

We know we can trust and depend on him to support us and meet all of our needs. God is faithful and will not negate his responsibility to us. Fathers of America let us stand up and take our rightful place as the spiritual priests and leaders of our home. Let’s stop the enemies attack on the institution of the family. This onslaught is tearing families apart; leaving mother’s with the overburdening task of being the father and the mother in the home, a role she was not created to be, and leaving children scarred and angry because there was no father there to love and nurture them. I exhort fathers of America to stop being absentee Fathers because you are too valuable to be missing in action.

  1. I am so glad that you posted an article like this. I pray that it might be used to steer some dads back to their parental responsibility.

  2. I was a single mother most of my children’s lives. It isn’t easy. It does affect the children and yes, they both have their issues to deal with. But praise the Lord, He was their heavenly Father and He was a constant figure in their life. If it wasn’t for God, we would have been totally lost. His grace is sufficient!

  3. Thanks for writing on this subject. It really does “ripple” through society causing angry children to act out.

I hope many fathers will read this!

  4. Welcome, Lisa and it really does “ripple” down from the top to the bottom.

  5. Greg,
Thank you for writing this article. There are so many men within the church who have “abandon” their responsibility as a father by being the spiritual leader of the home. I pray that fathers who read this article will answer the call that God has placed upon their life and become righteous men of courage.

  6. You are welcome Renee and I agree in Jesus name with your prayer. Lord touch men all over the world with the God given call you have put on their lives to be the priest and leader in the home.

  7. I ALWAYS THANK THE GOOD LORD FOR BRINGING ALL MY KIDS, AND MYSELF THROUGH ALL OF OUR TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS. IF IT WASN’T FOR GOD, I DON’T KNOW WHERE ME, AND ALL OF MY KIDS WOULD BE. MY GOD WILL SUPPLY ALL MY NEEDS ACCORDING TO HIS GLORIOUS RICHES IN CHRIST JESUS.
