Dusan Krtolica is an 11 year old art prodigy. (Psalm 139:14) He has been drawing since two years old and if you look unknowingly at his work, you might guess the images were created by someone much, much older and more experienced. Prepare to be amazed! He has had four national solo art exhibitions since he was 8 years old. This young boy wants to be a zoologist when he grows up and wants to draw all the animals. It is obvious that he knows what he can do and is totally committed to achieving that goal. He is gifted and not afraid to share his efforts with the world.
I imagine the many people reading above about Dusan are marveling at his talent and wish they could “do that.” But, what is your talent? Where do your gifts shine forth? I cannot be convinced that you have nothing of worth or importance to give to the world. Why? The Bible tells me that God created each person in His own image. (Genesis 1:27) That, my friend, means that God shared something of Himself with you. Maybe He shared an aspect of His creativity with you and you can sew, bake, plow a straight row, milk a cow, or create wonderful works of art. Maybe you are gifted with His ability to love or His ability to forgive. Maybe He shared aspects of His generosity with you and you offer hospitality with no advance notice or you give sacrificially of your time, money, and life skills. Our marvelous God is always creating; therefore, we have that seed within us.
As you ponder your opportunities to share your gifts with the world, are you hearing inhibiting words that stir up your insecurities? That isn’t God. Our Creator is all for you to step out and share those things wherein you have passion, experience, or expertise. Don’t hold back. If an eleven-year-old can muster up the courage, so can you. Ask God to instill in you the passion needed to share your unique specialties with the world. No offering is too small. Our Lord can direct and use the smallest, most seemingly insignificant things to impact another human being.
Dusan is simply following his heart – the heart God created in him. He has a gift. He is allowing it to blossom while leaving the type of flower it produces to the Lord’s design. What is your gift? How can you share it with the world? How do you see it making even a tiny difference? What type of “flower” might God want to design in your life?
