Is The Public’s View Of Homosexuality Right Or Wrong?
By John Livingston Clark
A recent Gallup Poll revealed that 42 percent of American adults believe people are born with a trait leading to same-sex attraction. It also revealed that 37 percent of the population believes it is the result of upbringing and environment. What was not told is how the remaining 21 percent view this issue? Even though there is a consensus among the general population, according to the American Psychological Association, “there is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay, or lesbian orientation.” In other words, scientists have not found a “gay gene.” The other question to ask is how has the environment, upbringing, or the role of genes, changed in the past several years to bring about the huge upsurge in the practice and acceptance of same-sex attraction?
Michael Glatze does not see it this way. He is the former co-founder of Young Gay America, who became a Christian and renounced his gay lifestyle with death threats. According to him, “There is no homosexual desire that is apart from lust.” If homosexuality is the result of the environment, upbringing or genes, why does the LGBT community have their New Queen James Version of the Bible, which rewrites particular passages to bring them more into conformity with their beliefs and practices? To blame it on these factors is an easy way out, but in the view of Michael Glatze, it is an issue decided by personal choices.
Some interesting things came out of a book I read, written by a practicing homosexual priest. The author said some people are inclined to be gay, even at a very young age. He found ways to justify Romans 1:18-30, a key passage in the New Testament on this subject. In contrast to this I also heard an ex-lesbian who became a Christian say on a talk show that she became gay because of abuse by the opposite sex. She totally contradicted the belief of the priest by saying that there is no way getting around the Romans passage.
Within the passage in Romans is verse 27, which states, “Likewise, also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful and receiving in themselves the penalties of their error which was done.” This is the verse which changed the heart and life of Michael Glatze. It is, however, one of the same verses which the priest found ways to justify and the New Queen James Version rewrites. With all of this said, even though there is a consensus of thought among the public, it calls into question whether there is within the gay community. Glatze says, “We cannot see the truth when we’re blinded by homosexuality.”
The reasons given by the ex-lesbian on the talk show, Michael Glatze, and even some within the gay community, supported by the rewriting of certain biblical passages, have nothing to do with genes. Add to this the report of the American Psychological Association that “there is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons…”
All of this taken together calls into question why 79 percent of adult Americans believe that same-sex attraction is caused by genes, upbringing, or the environment, What do they base it on? As stated earlier, it is easy to justify homosexuality, or anything else for that matter, by saying it is caused by these factors. Why? Is it because it frees individuals and society as a whole from taking personal responsibility for their beliefs and practices, due to a lack of conviction and truth? That would appear to be the case, and is, indeed, a picture of our culture today.
Think about this..if we came about by believing that God creating mankind or by evolution, we wouldn’t have gotten very far if we tried to go the route of same sex couples to populate this world. We would have died out long before now.
Yes, I do believe it is by the lust of the flesh that people make this choices by practicing this lifestyle because that is how we are drawn away to sin and the Bible calls this act a sin.
I see that it demoralizes mankind. The animals have outsmarted us because they know to chose the right sex. I don’t believe they even consider an alternative.
I don’t know how society can swallow the idea that it could be about upbringing since I can’t see why parents (a man and a woman) would teach their children a different lifestyle if they weren’t into that themselves.
Genes no, although we are conceived in sin so from birth we have a sin nature that is being developed as we are growing.
I believe it is something being forced upon us to accept. If you don’t agree with them, you are bigoted, hateful, and maligned in some way. People tend to bend to such tactics and they may think that it isn’t hurting anyone. After all it is about love so who cares who loves who. Not a good philosophy for it is compromising what God has to say about such a practice.
As a Christian, we don’t hate them for who they are because we are to have a love for them as God does. But we are to see this practice as God does and He says it is sinful.
Thank you for covering this topic and giving others a chance to address this issue. God bless!
Oh, Mr. Joel! You really like me coming here to rant don’t ya? 😀 Typically, this is one of those issues I stay away from because there is basically no winning argument. Everyone has an opinion on the subject and no matter which side you are on, you are never going to convince the other side to switch. (unless you are a priest that has a child who is gay)
I’ll start with the ‘queen version of the Bible’. (Bible stays capital no matter what!) This is a giant load of horse doody. It is one thing to argue the interpretation of the Bible. I can understand that to some extent. However, it is completely different to actually rewrite it to fit your life style. If that is the way it works now, then I am going to go rewrite Genesis so Adam has a smoke, then I don’t know, somewhere in Exodus I’m going to wipe out a few lines and replace them with ‘anyone who does not eat meat has to have a piece of grass sticking out of their ear at all times’, after that I’m going to rewrite the Koran so that woman are actually treated like humans. Ok, that last one I won’t do cause I would like to live!
Ya see my point here? You just can’t go around rewriting books, especially Holy books, to suit your needs, wants or desires! It is beyond stupid and if you don’t think it is, let me stay with ya for a day and rewrite your rules to mine! Believe me, you probably won’t like it.
Let’s move on to just the homosexual thing in general. I touched on this a little bit in another post, but it may be time to dive deeper into it. (as long as I stay sober enough)
Back two or three years ago, give or take, this was not really an issue. Everyone knew there were gay people and everyone went on with their happy lives. Laws were and are in place so you could not get fired or not hired for a job due to sexual preference. People really didn’t give a rats pitoot who you slept with cause it was no ones business. And then booom! Political Correctness was born and holy crap you can’t say one bad word about a gay person.
Now why is it that gay supporters are so thin skinned? They constantly preach tolerance and acceptance and give none of it! Seriously, no one really gives them a hard time, it is just MOST OF THE PLANET disagrees with same sex. Is that really that bad? Almost every person I know does not agree with gays, but they always welcome them into their home, church, bbq, etc.. There is no name calling or anything like that. It is just a disagreement.
God, nature and human anatomy tell me that being gay is not a normal thing. It can’t be. Humans and most species are not a love the one your with kinda animal. I would post a pic of the human anatomy on here, but there is no reason to because we all know men and women are meant to be together.
That being said, ones that don’t believe in religion usually rely on science to prove their point. Fair enough. Tell me, where is the gay gene? There has gotta be one if your born that way. If 95% of humans are born hetro without question, that tells me either there a gene in gays that attract them to the same sex or it is a choice/enviroment. There is no other explanation. None! Since I don’t recall seeing a gay gene announced, I am going to have to go with it is a choice or product of environment. Get cranky all ya want, I don’t care.
I will end (finally) with the marriage thing. Face it, marriage is one man one woman. If it wasn’t gay people wouldnt have to call it same sex marriage. You have to call something else because it is! Not even going to get into that ‘transgender’ bullsquirt!
😀
NXs, Thank you for speaking from your heart, and thanks for reading my article. John Livingston Clark
A very timely and important topic as we are seeing the activist courts ignoring state constitutions and attempting to re-shape society.
Of course we know God’s Word – the TRUE Word, (not the re-written, to suit our own preferences version) is right. I believe the problem has arisen out of society eliminating God from their lives, and some using verses like ‘judge not’ against those identifying themselves as Christians.
As fewer and fewer people desire to actually read the Bible and truly seek the heart of God, they can be easily manipulated by propaganda. They may think that because Jesus loved them they are to love them too. Ephesians 5:1-3 That is ABSOLUTELY true. We are to love just as Christ loved us and gave his life for us even unto death. BUT, to ‘love’ a person does NOT mean to ’embrace’ a lifestyle which God has called sin (no matter what the sin may be). Jesus loves. He forgives. He also tells us to ‘go and sin no more.’
‘Love the sinner, hate the sin,’ is now translated as ‘hateful’ speech. It’s judgmental (to call someone a sinner.) But in fact, the Bible tells us that we are ALL sinners saved ONLY by the grace of God and the blood of Jesus Christ.
God’s view should be the only view that is relevant to a Christian. However, our conduct toward others IS relevant, because in this world we are representatives of Jesus Christ. So it is important to learn how God calls us to live.
