Memories – a blessing to those who have known.
Birthed through many different adventures and emotions, they spring to life through a single word, a sound, a long forgotten aroma, or an obscure, fleeting thought as it skips through our minds, instantly propelling us into a distant space in time.
Some memories are not welcome, but the precious ones you have given me will always be welcome. These reveal so much of your true self: wise, young at heart, understanding and patient, charming, and fascinating – to name only a few. I can remember them as clearly as if I were there, living, truly living them all over again. Blue ones. Gold ones. Ones which, at that single moment, illuminate the blessed bond of fun and fellowship between us.
They are sincere memories, sharing memories, the kind revealing a tapestry of understanding and friendship between two. Trimmed in silver they are. Time shall never force them to die or fade; time only makes them more priceless.
You have provided, my dear one, a soul-full of memories that will last me through eternity. For all of these I am infinitely grateful. I only hope you find our times of friendship as precious in your heart as they are and always will be in mine. Take them, as I have, and keep them forever with love; reaching for them when you feel pale blue and low or when you feel bright orange and as high as a Rocky Mountain sunrise.
And always remember, these wonderful memories continue to thrive in my heart because the memory of you is their essence. (Philippians 1:3)
I hope you have had at least one such friendship with someone that made life better. If you haven’t had or don’t have that kind of friend, make the effort today to open yourself to the potential. Be available. Proverbs 18:24 tells you how. It is important to find someone who blesses you beyond words’ ability to describe. Yes, at some point, your paths may split at the fork in the road or a heavenly reward may be granted – seemingly at the wrong time. Take heart. They live on by stirring up memories that bring the smiles and laughter back, if even for just a moment. Joy-bursts then cause an inward bubbling that emanates to those around you. Your outlook becomes more cheery. For just a minute, or more if you are lucky, all seems right with the world.
Love is a friend remembered.
