It seems the Lord just keeps putting the message “SHINE” before my eyes. In His word, He states the importance of “shining” by comparing our mission to a candle in the middle of a house.
“Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it gives light unto all that are in the house.” Matthew 5:15
We are infused with Jesus’ light if we walk in His ways, love, and obey Him.
He tells us in John 15: 8:
“Herein is My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be My disciples.”
And just how does one do that?
Matthew 5:16 urges us to:
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.”
To sum it all up, Romans 12:2 says:
“And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.“
God has “set apart” His children so that we appear as bright spots in a dark world.
Today, I heard the story of a couple staff members at Dutch Bros. Coffee in Vancouver, Oregon, who allowed their Jesus lights to shine brightly upon a woman in need. She entered the drive-thru with tears overflowing. Even though they were busy, these two employees recognized this woman’s need and put the coffee on the back burner. They connected with her as a person as they had been taught and given permission. They learned that her husband had recently passed away and today was a really bad day.
The two employees didn’t hesitate. They reached right through the window, acknowledging her pain and taking her hand. What happened next just flowed naturally. They prayed for her, asking the Lord to give her peace and comfort. A picture of the boys attending to the woman’s sorrow was snapped by the car following, ending up on social media.
The boys who showed such love to a grieving customer hope that their deed will inspire others and make the world a better place by doing so.
Stand out, Child, shine Jesus’ light for the world to see–especially at this Easter-tide. People need to see it!
How can you let the light of Jesus shine through you?
