Goodbye Former Life- A Brand New Start!

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

In the bustling city of New York, Sarah was known as a sharp financial advisor, her days filled with numbers and forecasts. But when her husband, Daniel, passed away unexpectedly, the numbers lost their meaning, and the city’s lights dimmed in her eyes.

She decided to leave everything behind and seek solace in the Midwest’s open skies and rolling fields. As Sarah drove across the country, she carried with her a Bible, a birthday gift from Daniel who had always found comfort in its verses. She often paused to read, finding peace in  Matthew 11:28 – “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

The Midwest welcomed her graciously with a tapestry of golden wheat and the gentle hum of country life. In a small town, in the beautiful state of Iowa- she found a quaint house that reminded her of her childhood home. It was here, in the quiet moments of dawn, that Sarah felt a connection to something greater than herself. Something fulfilling and welcoming. Something that gave her peace for the first time since Daniel’s passing. It was here she felt a stronger than ever connection to the LORD. And it was here that she felt His Presence and “heard” His voice loud and clear.

She began to volunteer at the local food bank, applying her financial acumen to help those in need. Her efforts brought stability to many families, and with each passing day, Sarah’s heart grew lighter. She found joy in Proverbs 19:17 “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.” She applied this verse to every aspect of her new life in Montana.

As months turned into years, Sarah’s story became one of hope and renewal. She learned that in serving others, she served God, and in doing so, found a new and stronger purpose for her life. The little rural town had given her more than a home; it had given her a “new” family and a future. She was part of a small knit church that was involved on all levels of community service to others, and even reached out across the globe in their efforts.

The story of Sarah’s journey teaches us that even in our darkest hours, there is a path to light. It reminds us that by following God’s will and serving others, we can find true happiness and fulfillment. And just as Sarah discovered, sometimes the greatest wealth is not in our bank accounts, or the title in our jobs – or the positions we hold- but in our hearts and the love we share.

Sarah’s tale is a testament to the power of faith and the strength we can find in scripture. It’s a story of transformation, showing that when we align our actions with what God wants us to do, we can find peace and joy in the most unexpected places.

“Heavenly Father, I come before You today seeking strength and clarity. In a world filled with noise and distractions, help me to focus on Your voice, guiding me towards Your divine will. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Lord, grant me full trust to lean on You exclusively, the wisdom to see Your path, and the courage to follow it, even when it’s obscured by fears and doubts. May I find solace in Your promises and faith in Your eternal goodness. Help me to surrender my plans, to embrace the journey You have laid out for me and to act with love, kindness, and humility. I thank You for Your unfailing love and pray that I may always be  an instrument of Your will, spreading light where there is darkness, and hope where there is despair. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.”

  1. When God is within us, we have a real purpose for living. Though dark times try to hinder our minds and troubles our hearts, He brings us through with His compassion and grace. His words tell us that we have a peace that passes all our understanding.
He says He will never leave us or forsake us so we can go forward and find a useful life that brings us joy.
This is just one example that shows the right kind of gain we need to satisfy.
