“Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the fear of the LORD all the day. Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.” Proverbs 23:17-18 (ESV)
Our days often look dark when we go through hard times. When we watch the news, or listen to conversations of others, our hope may grow weak, and our worries grow big.
But God sent His only Son to this earth to not only be our Salvation, but to bear our burdens. We do not have to bear them alone. When we know the Son, we know He is our Helper, our Comfort, our Deliverer. We are not always spared frustrations, fear, and hardship, but we are always provided with a way out, a path to safety, a provision for our spiritual man/woman to rest and be at peace.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV)
Jesus knows our troubles. He knows we carry cares and heartaches, that we tire easily, and that sometimes the journey feels of no worth because of these things. He also knows that He is the answer to all of our problems. Because if we will just listen and learn from Him, we will find that perfect rest. The worries of this world will not steal our joy, and whatever man thinks he can do to hurt us will never be feared. Romans 8:31 tells us that if our God is for us, who can be against us? Our God has given us hope not only for today, but hope for the future as well.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV)
The LORD our God had made plans for you and for me right at the very beginning of time. He already envisioned our lives, who we would be, and what we would become. He knew we would need help and sustenance while living here on this earth. But He also knew we could and would achieve the goal of reaching our true home, Heaven. For we are but travelers on this earth, doing life and making the journey until we arrive at our permanent place of residence. If we will just take hold of this fact, this hope for our futures, and not let go, our journey will not be as difficult as it could be, our joy will be renewed, Our Hope will be evident in our daily lives.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16-17 (NKJV)
