“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,
Loving favor rather than silver or gold.” (Proverbs 22:1)
“A good name is better than precious ointment,
And the day of death better than the day of one’s birth;” (Ecclesiastes 7:1)
Have you been given “A good name“?
A Good Name
If I lost my home,
If I lost all my hard earned fortune,
If I became desolate like the Land of Canaan,
If I lost everything except my name,
What would I have?
What would I have gained?
If I love myself most therefore.
If I would that others also,
That they would love me even more.
Then, I owe to myself to this false opinion.
Not so self-impressed in the end would I be.
Me having been lost all along in my own delusion.
Shall I wear a fancy robe of white and cotton?
Only to have the box opened to find one day.
To then find that inside I am totally rotten.
Shall I not enter the sheep pen by the gait,
But rather climb in the sheep pen another way?
Thereby sealing my fate eternally in the Fiery Lake!
Shall my life be a vain life?
Can anything I do anything to prolong my wicked life?
Shall I seek out so many an evil scheme,
To then find I was a fool made wise only in my dreams!
Shall the day of my death be any better.
Than the day I was brought forth by the Giver?
Shall in the end all my adversity be,
Any better than all my perceived earned prosperity?
A good name lives beyond the grave…
When I am given a good name and a good place.
When He whose name is greater than any other name,
When He alone gives me His wonderful name.
Then my land is called Beulah,
For in Beulah Land gone is all my guilt and shame!
I then become a crown of glory in His hand so mighty.
A Royal Diadem.
A badge of royalty.
No more desolate is my desert land.
No more His enemy as on this Earth I came.
What would I have then…
A good name in Christ will be my eternal gain!

But the name of the wicked will rot.” (Proverbs 10:7)
