Jesus Wept
In Bethany, where sorrow loomed,
A heavy heart, the air perfumed,
Two sisters mourned their brother’s death,
Their cries of pain, a mournful breath.
Then Jesus came, His steps so light,
With eyes of love, He saw their plight.
Though power flowed within His hand,
He stood beside them, did not command.
For in that moment, tears did fall,
He wept with them, He felt their thrall.
His heart was moved, compassion deep,
For Mary, Martha, and their grief.
“Jesus wept,” the shortest verse,
A sign of love, the soul’s converse.
He shares our burdens, feels our pain,
In every tear, He sees the rain.
With tender heart, He cries with us,
Our trials, fears, He does discuss.
No sorrow too great, no tear ignored,
His love, a shelter, ever assured.
Oh, what a Savior, kind and true,
Who walks with us, life’s journey through.
His tears, a balm for broken hearts,
His love, the light that never parts.
So, when in darkness, grief or woe,
Remember Him, for He does know.
“Jesus wept,” and weeps with you,
His love, a constant, pure and true.
Reflection
Jesus’ tears are a powerful testament to His humanity and His deep compassion for us. He wept not only for Lazarus, but for all our sorrows and pains. His empathy and love extend to every corner of our lives, assuring us that we are never alone in our struggles.
“LORD-We thank You for the profound compassion of Your Son, Jesus. In His tears, we see a love that transcends all understanding. Comfort us in our times of sorrow, remind us that Jesus weeps with us, and let His presence be our solace and strength. May we always remember His empathy and draw near to Him, knowing that He shares our burdens and lifts our spirits. Fill our hearts with the peace and joy of His love. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.”
John 11:35 (KJV): “Jesus wept.”
May the compassion of Jesus fill your heart with peace and comfort. Know that in every tear and every sorrow, He is with you, sharing your burdens and surrounding you with His unfailing love.
