Has Anybody Seen My Friend

Has anybody seen my friend?
I can hear all the voices of my enemies.
They are many and they are loud,
As they spread their noisy disease.
But louder still is the message sent,
By the silence of all my many good friends.

Has anybody seen my friend?
He helped me once when things went amok.
“Hey friend could you help me out”…I said!
“This knife in my back, seems to have gotten stuck!”
He helped me, but when I turned my back…My friend!
He went and just put it back in again!

They say that good friends are hard to find
And if you find but one, you are truly blessed.
Those just pretending to be a good friend,
They will when you call, ignore you at best.
A truly good friend will see your signs.
Even when you’re quiet, you will be on their mind.

A good friend is always disturbing your way.
But the wounds of a good friend won’t be,
A surprise attack when you turn your back.
They are better than a kiss from the enemy.
A good friend refreshes the soul every day.
They don’t just pray, they are there come what may.

Has anybody seen my friend?
He said he was coming back last night.
I guess he must have gotten lost!
This so-called friend could be your brother or sister in Christ.
I pray that one day they can be truly found,
For loving one another, God has said…Is very profound!

I wonder how many have really seen my good friend?
I know One who sticks closer than a brother.
He loves me like there is no other.
He is my surety.
He is my remedy.
He is the hope for all of my eternity.

Torment from an enemy I can easily bear.
Give me contempt from my enemies and I will not care.
But I wonder how many of my good friends,
Those I’ve broken bread with again and again.
How many of them were born for my adversity.
Or, will they only bring me ruin with their bad company!

Has anybody seen my friend?
The One that speaks well of me…Even to the end!
