In The LORD’s Abode Forever More

(Based on Psalm 27)

In the Lord’s abode, I take my stand,
He is my light, my saving hand.
The wicked come, to stir up strife,
Yet in His strength, I find my life.

Though hosts encamp, my heart won’t fear,
The war may arise, yet God is near.
One thing I’ve sought, and will implore,
To dwell in His house forevermore.

To gaze upon His beauty fair,
And seek His face, His tender care.
For in His tabernacle, I’ll hide,
In troubled times, He’ll be my guide.

He’ll set me high, upon a rock,
My head will rise above the flock.
And I will sing, with joyous breath,
Praise to the Lord, in life and death.

Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud,
Be gracious, cast away my shroud.
You’ve been my help, forsake me not,
O God of my salvation, my lot.

Teach me Thy way, O Lord, I pray,
Lead me on a level way.
Deliver me from foes unseen,
For false witnesses rise, unclean.

I believe I’ll see the Lord’s grace,
In the land of the living space.
Wait for the Lord, be strong, take heart,
For He will ne’er from thee depart.

When friend and family may forsake,
The Lord will take me, make no mistake.
He’ll teach me His way, so pure and just,
In His path alone, I place my trust.

False witnesses breathe out cruelty,
Yet, I stand firm in His surety.
My heart whispers, “Seek His face!”
Your face, Lord, I seek, in every place.

I am confident, I shall behold,
The goodness of the Lord, untold.
In the land of life, where His light streams,
Where hope is alive, and love redeems.

So, wait on the Lord, with courage imbued,
He shall strengthen your heart, with fortitude.
For the Lord is your light, and your salvation,
In Him, find your peace, and final station.

Psalm 27: 4 -One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

“Dear LORD, may I seek You in all I do, rest in You, trust in You and know that You are my Rock and Tower all the days of my life, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

  1. I love the message embedded within this poem, C.D.! How true it is that we can always seek refuge and everything else, from our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ! Thank you for the reaffirmation of this Psalm.
