“Once Offered, Twice Expected”
In shadows deep, the temple stood,
where priests performed their sacred good.
The blood of bulls, the smoke’s ascent,
yet sin remained—a heavy scent.
Then came the Lamb, both pure and true,
His sacrifice, a crimson dew.
Christ offered once, His life laid bare,
to bear our sins, our burdens share.
Stanza 1: The Altar’s Cry
Upon the altar, crimson stain,
The Lamb of God, our guilt to drain.
His wounded side, His thorn-crowned brow,
He bore it all—our debt, our vow.
Stanza 2: Redemption’s Echo
For many souls, His mercy flowed,
their names inscribed in love’s abode.
No more the veil, no more the night,
In Christ, we find eternal light.
Stanza 3: The Second Dawn
But hark! The promise echoes still,
The second time, His purpose will.
Not as the Lamb, but as the King,
He’ll come again; salvation bring.
Stanza 4: Without Sin’s Weight
No more the cross, no more the strife,
He’ll lead us into endless life.
Sin’s heavy burden cast away,
In His embrace, forever stay.
Stanza 5: The Hopeful Wait
So, wait we shall, with hearts aflame,
For Christ’s return, His glorious name.
To those who seek Him, eyes upraised,
He’ll come—the Lamb, the King, unphased.
Hebrews 9:28 -So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
May this poem remind us of Christ’s sacrificial love and the hope we have in His return.
“Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice. May we eagerly await His return, living in the hope of salvation. Keep our hearts fixed on Him in all we do and say, may we humbly walk in abject adoration as we serve Him with all of our heart, mind, body and soul, today all the days of our lives, and into eternity, In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
This is just beautiful Camille.
Camille, what a beautiful poem! I enjoyed it very much as it blessed my heart to read it!
May God bless you and all that you do!
