I wake up far to soon from my sleeping.
And now the darkness begins.
It came hiding all of my sin
Now I’m just waiting for the Sun.
I try to breathe before rays are shared by the morning Sun.
I’m quite undone as my confessions come in the night.
Under this midnight sky I pray, “Lord; make me right.
For, only You know all the things I have thought and done.
“Lord, I need Your comfort.
Just a morsel of Your bread.
Please don’t wait, Lord; till the Sun finally comes.
I can’t wait any longer to be fed.
I’m trying to follow Your Son whom I know.
Only You know why I need it so much.
You know, Lord; right now I need Your touch.
Right here; Every now, I have nowhere else to go.
“Now that You’ve taught me to let self go.
I find I’m filled till my cup overflows.
I’ve lost the disguises and all of the lies.
All my sin, You’ve cast to the bottom of the sea.
As the tears start to flow, in my heart I know.
After Your rod, Your staff of comfort I will see.
No one else, but You Lord; do I need.
And loving others is all that I owe.
“Under this midnight sky before the Light of day,
Something pierced down deep in my soul.
Inside this cold heart of stone.
I can hear Your voice as I pray.
There’s no Sun and no Moon to light my way;
But Your new mercies I see coming to me.
I can feel You, Lord; all around me.
Lord, I worship Your great and holy name.
“Whether my days are made dark
Or my days are made sunny and bright;
I will praise You with all of my heart.
You are the Light that drives out my darkness.
Your Son is the glory I see in all Your brightness.
Even when I’m under a midnight sky!”
