You Called–You Are Mine!

“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob,
 And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
 I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.”
(Isaiah 43:1)

You Called

I thought in the cold hard dark beginning,
Love was not worth the giving to receiving.
In all of my selfish prideful dreaming,
My love to me was all I’d be giving.

Then You came along singing Your strange and powerful love song!
My world of selfish loving that once was so satisfying,
It became a world of much woe.
So unsatisfying to my soul.
Me was my very best friend.
Then You came along singing Your irresistible love call!

Thinking my love was meant to give me love,
And others meant to help me give me love,
All my relationships they could not fulfill.
Once used up, they fell away from my will.

You invaded my soul!
Cutting me deep on my right side,
Then cutting me deep on my left,
With Your sword of light You cut me.
You marked a clear road for me,
Set out many signs for me not very hard to find.
Placing them ever so cleverly,
The roads had no divide.
You became my faithful friend.
What was once unimportant, became important!
What was once important, began to fall!

Oh, the wonder of it all,
How Love came to me with true love’s call!
In the cold hard dark beginning of the making of me,
You knew me!
And, You set a light to mark the ending for me!
I can see love!
I can know love!
So this is what love is really,
You loving me to the end of me!
I wonder!
I am in awe!

I know You because You know me!
And, one cold hard dark night,
You called…Me!
And you said…”You Are Mine!”
