God Is On The Side Of Israel

In recent warfare, for the first time in history Iran launched 300 drones and missiles directed toward Israel. However, 99 percent of those were shot down before reaching their target. Israel has a very technologically advanced air defense system; the best in the world. It is another way God has blessed this nation with the ingenuity to invent an air defense system that is so successful that other countries want one like it. An article in the Times of Israel reported that U.S. News and World Report places the might of the Israeli military as 4th in the world, behind the U.S., China, and Russia.

Israel has proven itself in previous wars. One example is the 1967 Six-Day War. Operation Focus, as it was named, is considered one of the most successful air campaigns in history. Five Middle East nations combined to fight against Israel, with nearly 500,000 Arab soldiers positioned along all of its borders. On June 5, the Israeli Air Force, in a surprise attack, destroyed almost all of the MIG-21 fighter jets on an Egyptian air base (Source: Earth’s Last Empire, John Hagee, Hachette Book Group, 2020, pgs 16-17).

Another example is the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Author Hagee writes, “While IDF soldiers observed Yom Kippur, Egypt and Syria launched a surprise attack simultaneously on two separate fronts. Fewer than 500 Israeli soldiers faced an overwhelming force of 600,000 Egyptians in the south, while in the north, 180 Israeli tanks defended the country against 1,400 Syrian tanks. U.S. President Richard Nixon, motivated by fears of a Soviet-backed Arab victory, authorized a massive emergency airlift of weapons to Israel on October 12. Though vastly outnumbered, Israel shocked the world by not only surviving the initial attacks, they also pushed the invaders back across their borders”(Hagee, pg. 21).

I believe we will see more of God’s intervention in the present conflict.

No matter what one’s position is politically, God is on the side of Israel; always has been, and always will be. And the nation will be around for a long time, despite what her enemies say. In Zechariah 2:8 God says to the nations, “…he who touches [Israel] touches the apple of his eye.”In other words, Israel has a special place in God’s heart. And he is watching over her. “Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep”(Psalm 121:4).

The Sunday morning after the attack, the congregation at my church sang the hymn, “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.” It was planned ahead of time, but nonetheless was very appropriate as it applied to Israel. Listen to the words in the video below:
