Suffering for Jesus is 2024 news around the world! Hebrews 13:3 instructs us to “Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.”
A news report about India came to me this week. India has been hostile to the gospel for many years now. But its status has been reclassified by Voice of Martyrs (VOM) to Restricted. Technically, India’s constitution allows its citizens the freedom of religion. But in 2014, Narendra Modi was elected Prime Minister and reelected in 2019. His administration has advanced an ideology called Hindutva – or Hindu purity.
Modi joined a paramilitary organization called Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) when he was eight. This organization has been banned several times for its heinous crimes. It affiliated with a political party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which, in recent years, has achieved significant political clout in India’s government.
Modi’s influence and power have helped increase membership in the RSS, which is now nationwide. RSS succeeded in normalizing hatred and radicalism. This organization and other similar organizations use three primary tactics to promote Hindu nationalism and persecute Christians.
- Legal opposition using anti-conversion laws
- Mob behavior against churches, pastors, and congregations
- Organized, planned attacks against Christians.
Along with this has come the use of a Communist tactic: the use of informants in nearly every village who report on Christians and other non-Hindus. Public school curriculum uses Hindutva ideology in the classrooms. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) plans to recruit religious warriors to monitor anti-Hindu activities.
Hindu groups beat Christians, vandalize churches, and arrest pastors. Social media promotes Hindu nationalism. The goal of Hindu nationalism is to eliminate Christians from the Hindu homeland.
VOM trains pastors and Christians to withstand and respond to persecution if they are accused or arrested. Some pastors are looking at possible prison time as a ministry opportunity.
Voice of Martyrs is distributing Bibles and helping Christians who have lost jobs or homes or have suffered physical attacks and injuries. They are urging Christians worldwide to pray.

I get these magazines and it is horrific how the devil plants these things in the mind and heart of individuals to carry out atrocities; especially using police forces to do their dirty work or use citizens to seek out Christian believers.
These ways are in line with the mindset Hitler went to blame the Jews in order to destroy them and we have the proof of the evil he caused when people went along with his insanity. It was inhumane and pitiful that people were blind to what was happening before their eyes. Yet we aren’t hearing voices calling out a needed change about the insanity still happening within these countries for decades. People were given a free will by the Lord but certain leaders try to steal it by enforcing laws to punish those for having an independent mind. Sort of like the building of the Tower of Babel to make everyone become of one mind and one way of controlling mankind using a form of religion apart from our Creator.
We don’t hear too much about other religions being sought out and imprisoned for their beliefs. How about places of worship being targeted and the structure being demolished to deter people from gathering for worship and fellowship.
This is evidenced that the devil targets the true faith as he is a destroyer of truth and his followers follow in his steps. They are victimizing Christians but they are the real victims that will pay dearly for eternity.

Thank you for this eye-opening article. It’s such a prolific problem amongst Christians all over the world in many countries, and it’s been reflected right here in the USA as well. Christ said there will be many mocked and Martyrs, and it stands true to this day.
