There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. (John 4:18 NIV)
A relationship that is anointed by God has a deep sense of unity and peace, unexplainable. It will be a bond, unbreakable. There will be a sense of peace, incomprehensible, undeniable. It will also challenge your thinking and help you to elevate to new heights and explore deeper depths of everything you’ve ever thought about love. The love of God will turn you inside out and upside down and will be an invitation to examine every part of your thinking. False ideologies will be exposed and broken; revelation will result.
You know this can be true due to the fact that God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to walk amongst us, live a sinless life, die a gruesome death and rise again to defeat the grave and bring us into a personal, one-on-one relationship with our Father while here on earth, as well as everlasting life in eternity in Heaven with Him.
When we study the life and short ministry of Jesus, one thing becomes obvious … when Jesus steps on the scene, things RADICALLY change. Jesus constantly disrupts our elementary thinking:
Therefore once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder; the wisdom of the wise will perish; the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish. (Isaiah 29:14)
When we become willing to accept that God is the Ultimate Matchmaker, He will honor our obedience and give us a new set of eyes with which to see. He is patiently waiting for you to surrender your love life and intends to bless you beyond belief.
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind can conceive what God has in store for those who love Him. (1 Corinthians 2:9)
I’m here to tell you today that it doesn’t matter what you’ve been through, what destructive and dysfunctional relationships may have broken your heart. There is healing and redemption to be found in Jesus Christ. He desperately wants for you to turn your full heart over to Him, to lean into Him and commit your life to learning about Him through His Word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
I confess, that all I’ve ever experienced were destructive, dysfunctional, ungodly relationships. And it’s because of my broken experiences that I took my broken heart and messed up self before the Lord and desperately asked Him to heal me and retrain my brain so that I can live out this life in a way that glorifies Him.
Heartbreak often precedes great revelation, don’t discredit that. Turn your heart over to the Lord, allow Him to heal your wounds and teach you how to love in a way that’s God-glorifying. This is your time of training single friends, to prepare for holy matrimony!
In your season of singlehood, are you asking God to heal and restore your heart and prepare you for your future spouse?
