What Can You Taste? (Chinese/English)

PSALM 119:103–How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

诗篇 119:103-你的话语品尝起来何等甘甜，在我口中胜过蜂蜜。

What Can You Taste?

你能尝到什么？

My wife tells me that when I cook, I have to taste everything.  As I often say, “how can you tell if food is cooked or not, unless you taste it first?”

我妻子对我说做饭的时候我必须品尝每样东西。 正如我常说的，“除非你先尝一尝，否则你怎么知道食物是否煮熟了？”

Honey is indeed sweet, and the people in the Bible used honey to sweeten a lot of their foods.

蜂蜜确实很甜，圣经中人们会用蜂蜜来使他们的食物变甜。

Here in this greatest and longest psalm, we have 176 verses that give praise to God for His Word.  In verse 103, he says, “How sweet are thy words to my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”

这首最长最伟大的诗篇有 176 节经文赞美上帝的话语。 在第 103 节，他说：“你的话语品尝起来何等甘甜，在我口中胜过蜂蜜！”

When we open the Word of God, how does it taste to you?  Does it taste bitter or sweet?

当我们打开神的话语时，你觉得它的味道如何？ 它尝起来是苦的还是甜的？

What the psalmist is trying to say here, is that above everything else, the Word of God is sweet to his soul, just like honey is sweet to his taste.

诗人在这里想说的是，最重要的是上帝的话语对他的灵魂来说是甜美的，就像蜂蜜一样。

In order for God’s Word to be sweet to us, we must develop our spiritual tastebuds.  Before we came to Christ, we had a taste for the things of this world; as believers, the world should not taste the same.  We have been changed.  We love God’s Word, because we love God.  We long to hear from Him, because we long to know more about Him, and how we can honour Him with our lives.

为了让上帝的话语对我们来说是甜美的，我们必须培养我们属灵的味蕾。 在我们归向基督之前，我们对这个世界的事物已经尝到了滋味； 但是已作信徒，世界不应该还是原来的味道。 我们已经改变了。 我们爱神的话语，因为我们爱神。 我们渴望听到他的声音，因为我们渴望更多地了解他，以及我们如何用我们的生命来荣耀他。

In Psalm 19, we have these words in Verses 8-10– The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb.
